Could you go a year without looking in the mirror? We don’t have the resolve of Kjerstin Gruys, a 29-year-old sociology PhD candidate who performed this personal experiment over the past year, including (gasp) her wedding day! That’s dedication…
Read about her journey, recently featured on 20/20, here.

Not just a charming drawing…a great message!
It’s International Men can Wear Dresses Too! day. I was going to take a photo but we had a discussion and C. said her dresses looked more like ill-fitting tunics on me and she felt uncomfortable. “What if I do something hypermasculine like wear combat boots and hold a ridiculously large handgun?” She still worried. So here’s a drawing of me rocking a size 28 floral and showing off my fishbelly colored legs. What’s it all about? For me it’s about total body autonomy and subverting the perception that you can judge a person by appearances. I’m not down with a society that tacitly condones rape on the basis of what the victim is wearing, or that excuses assaults on trans* folk because of attire.
